Natural Charcoal and Briquettes for Export: Types, Specifications and Packing

Charcoal and biomass briquettes serve barbecue, foodservice and industrial heat markets. Each format has its own specification logic and buyer expectations.

Lump charcoal vs briquettes

Natural lump charcoal is charred hardwood pieces, valued for fast lighting and natural composition. Briquettes are compressed from charcoal fines or biomass and offer uniform shape and longer, steadier burning.

RUF and Pini Kay

RUF briquettes are rectangular blocks pressed from dry sawdust for heating. Pini Kay briquettes are octagonal with a central hole, giving strong, consistent heat output. Both are specified by ash content, moisture and calorific value.

Specifications to check

Key parameters are fixed carbon content, ash, moisture, volatile matter, calorific value and, for barbecue use, absence of chemical additives. Instant-light briquettes are a separate category with ignition coating.

What to include in your RFQ

State the product type, specification targets, packing (bags of 3, 5 or 10 kg, or bulk big bags), quantity in containers, destination, Incoterm and any certification your market requires.
