DAP 18-46-0 vs NPK Compound Fertilizers: A Guide for Distributors

Phosphate and compound fertilizers make up a large share of what agricultural distributors stock. Knowing what each grade delivers helps you match supply to local crops and soils.

Reading the numbers

Fertilizer grades list nitrogen (N), phosphate (P₂O₅) and potash (K₂O) as percentages by weight. DAP 18-46-0 contains 18% N and 46% P₂O₅ and no potash. NPK 15-15-15 contains 15% of each nutrient.

When DAP fits

DAP is a concentrated phosphate source, widely used at planting and as a base for bulk blending. It suits markets where farmers or blenders add nitrogen and potash separately.

When NPK fits

Balanced compound NPK grades deliver all three nutrients in every granule, which gives even application and simplifies the farmer's programme. Grades such as 15-15-15, 17-17-17 and 19-19-19 are common for general cropping; other ratios are produced for specific crops.

Specifying for wholesale

For both products, agree nutrient guarantees, granule size, moisture, packing (bulk, big bags or 50 kg bags), labelling language and import registration requirements in the destination country before you confirm an order.
