Crude or refined?
Crude sunflower oil is pressed or extracted oil that has not been fully processed; it is bought by refiners and bottlers with their own refining capacity. Refined, bleached and deodorised (RBD) sunflower oil is light, neutral in taste and ready for retail packing or food-service use.
High-oleic sunflower oil is a separate grade with a higher oleic acid content and better frying stability; specify it explicitly if you need it.
Quality parameters
Typical points on a specification sheet are free fatty acids (FFA), peroxide value, moisture and impurities, colour, iodine value and, for refined oil, odour and taste. Ask which standard the specification refers to and agree the inspection company and sampling method before loading.
Packing formats
Bulk oil moves in vessel tanks or in flexitanks inside 20-foot containers. Refined oil is also supplied in drums, IBCs, jerrycans and PET bottles of various sizes. Bottled oil needs label artwork, language and destination-market labelling rules confirmed early.
What to include in your RFQ
State crude or refined (and high-oleic if needed), monthly and annual quantity, packing, destination port, Incoterm, required certificates (for example certificate of origin, analysis, health) and any halal or other certification your market requires.
